This Privacy Policy explains how GunZ The Duel Wiki ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use this website, in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

GunZ The Duel Wiki is a community wiki for the game GunZ: The Duel. You can contact us regarding any privacy matter at curator@gunztheduel.wiki.

What information we collect

• Account information: username, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
• Wiki contributions: the content of any wiki pages you create or edit, together with the date/time and your username, stored as part of the page's revision history.
• IP address: the IP address you registered from, the one you last logged in from, and the one used for each wiki contribution. Your IP address is never displayed publicly and is not visible to other members - only site administrators can see it, and only from the site's admin pages.
• Login security records: a short-lived record of failed login attempts, used to slow down password guessing. These are visible only to the site's database and are not shown anywhere on the site.
• Cookie preference: whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies (see our Cookie Policy).

How we use your information

• To create and manage your account, including sending an activation email when you register.
• To let you create, edit and track changes to wiki pages.
• To maintain a record of edits (a public revision history) for transparency and to prevent abuse, and to notify the site administrator by email when a page is created or edited.
• To keep the site secure - for example by temporarily limiting repeated failed login attempts coming from the same network, and by allowing administrators to investigate spam or vandalism and block an abusive account or network.

Legal basis for processing

We process your account and contribution data on the basis of legitimate interests (operating and securing the wiki) and, where you register an account, to perform the contract between you and us (providing access to the editing features of the site).

Who we share your information with

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your username and any content you contribute to the wiki, including page edits and revision history, are visible to other visitors as part of the public wiki. Your IP address is not part of that public record. IP addresses are stored privately and can only be viewed by site administrators, who use them solely to investigate spam, vandalism and abuse. Emails are sent via our SMTP provider solely to deliver account activation messages and admin edit notifications.

How long we keep your information

Account information is retained for as long as your account exists. Wiki revision history is retained indefinitely as part of the wiki's public edit log, in line with standard wiki practice; the IP address recorded against each revision is kept alongside it for abuse investigation, but remains admin-only and is never published. Records of failed login attempts are discarded automatically once they are no longer needed for rate limiting, normally within 24 hours.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data (note that contributions to the wiki's revision history may be retained, with personal identifiers removed where reasonably possible, to preserve the integrity of the wiki's history).
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at curator@gunztheduel.wiki. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Security

Passwords are stored using a one-way cryptographic hash and cannot be retrieved. All forms on this site are protected against cross-site request forgery, and all database queries use parameterised statements to protect against SQL injection.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
